Purpose and Multifaceted performance (MFP)

A powerful driver for recovery and transformation

Veolia builds on the ESG model, defining five spheres, which are complementary and, in our opinion, should be in balance:

  • environmental activities,
  • societal activities,
  • employee welfare,
  • economic and financial activity,
  • commercial activity.

This multifaceted performance is a management tool enabling us to turn our objective – ecological transformation – into a reality.

In Bulgaria, Veolia works on several objectives from the multifaceted performance strategy, as most of them are relating to the environment. The biodiversity conservation activities at our sites are a key focus.

Usefulness, at the heart of our strategic vision

Veolia's purpose was adopted by its Board of Directors and presented at the Annual Shareholders' Meeting on 18 April 2019.

Veolia's purpose was developed through a long process of work and unprecedented collaboration involving the company's management bodies, employees, the Critical Friends Committee (external experts), customers, people' panels, and so on.

Convinced about the role and usefulness of businesses in meeting society's expectations Veolia Group is one of the first French companies to have defined its purpose. Antoine Frerot, Chairman of Veolia, says "a business is prosperous because it is useful and not the other way around".

SOCIETY

Our commitment supports the human and societal needs

BUSINESS

We work together with our customers to conserve the biodiversity at their sites

ENVIRONMENT

We interact directly with nature to protect the environment, in particular by treating wastewater in order to ensure that the wastewater discharged into rivers is not polluted.

HUMAN RESOURCES

We are raising the awareness of more environmentally-friendly practices among our employees, customers, and contractors.

Veolia's purpose is not just a slogan, it is expressed in a complete text

Veolia's purpose is to contribute to human progress by firmly committing to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. It is with this aim in mind that Veolia sets itself the task of "Resourcing the world" through its environmental services business.

Veolia's purpose hinges on the answers to 4 questions:

  • In what way is Veolia useful to society?
  • What is its mission?
  • How is Veolia different from other companies?
  • For whom and how is the wealth generated shared?

Value creation for all our stakeholders
